Planning a trip to Vietnam for tourism or business in 2026? For travelers from Taiwan, choosing the right visa type is key to saving money and avoiding long airport queues. This comprehensive guide compares the latest Vietnam E-visa and Visa on Arrival (VOA) fees, application processes, and emergency options to ensure a smooth journey.
1. 2026 Vietnam E-visa: The Top Choice for Efficiency
Since the optimization of the E-visa system, Taiwan citizens can easily apply online. The main advantages include transparent pricing (all-inclusive), a fully digital process, and no need to pay additional stamping fees at the airport. You simply present a printed PDF to clear customs.

2. Visa on Arrival (VOA): For Emergencies & Long Stays
While the process is more manual, VOA is ideal for those needing very long stays or travelers who need a visa last minute and cannot wait for E-visa approval.
Note: VOA is only applicable for international flights arriving at major airports (Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, Cam Ranh, Phu Quoc).
Fee Structure (Service Fee + Stamping Fee)
VOA costs consist of two separate payments:
-
Service Fee (Agency Fee): Paid online to obtain the “Visa Approval Letter.”
-
Stamping Fee: Paid in USD cash directly to Customs upon arrival in Vietnam.
| Visa Type | Service Fee (Prepaid) | Stamping Fee (Paid at Airport) |
| 1-Month Single | $45 USD | $25 USD |

How to Apply for VOA:
-
Before Departure: Apply for the Approval Letter online. Print it out—you cannot board without it.
-
At the Airport: Locate the “Visa on Arrival” counter before heading to immigration.
-
Documents Needed: Passport, printed Approval Letter, 2 portrait photos (4×6 cm), and USD cash.
3. Premium Add-on Services
Enhance your travel experience, especially when traveling with seniors or children:
-
VIP Fast Track ($45 USD): A representative meets you at the VOA counter, handles all paperwork, and escorts you through a priority immigration lane.
-
Confidential Letter ($6-8 USD): Standard letters list multiple travelers. This option ensures only your information appears on the document for maximum privacy.
4. 2026 Entry Checklist & Pro-Tips
-
Passport Validity: Ensure your passport is valid for at least 3 months beyond your stay.
-
Physical Prints: Both E-visas and Approval Letters must be printed on paper. Digital copies on phones are often rejected by airlines or customs.
-
Photo Prep: Carry two 4×6 cm photos. While airports offer photography services for a fee, bringing your own saves time.
-
Guaranteed Service: Choosing a professional agency ensures that if your E-visa is rejected, you receive a full refund.
